Exterior Waterproofing Work

The client contacted The City Wide Group regarding water infiltration concerns in the basement. A site assessment was conducted, and exterior waterproofing was recommended. The initial estimate covered 10 linear feet (LF) of foundation wall, however, after excavation and inspection, the scope was extended based on the foreman’s professional evaluation of the conditions.
Challenges

Solution and Implementation Process
Site Preparation

Work area was clearly marked and secured to ensure safe excavation and work conditions.

Utility locates were confirmed prior to the start of work.
Excavation
-
Excavated soil down to footing level to expose approximately 18 LF of foundation wall.

Excavation depth reached approximately 6 feet to allow full access to foundation and drainage system.
Foundation Preparation
-
Once exposed, foundation walls were thoroughly cleaned and brushed to remove dirt, debris, and loose concrete.

Necessary parging repairs completed to create a smooth and sealed surface in preparation for waterproofing.
Waterproofing System Installation
-
Applied rubberized membrane (BlueSkin WP200) to foundation wall to create a fully bonded waterproof barrier.

Installed Delta MS drainage board over the waterproofing membrane to protect the system and improve water management.
Drainage System Installation
-
Removed existing weeping tile and installed new 4” perforated weeping tile, complete with filter fabric to prevent clogging.

Surrounded weeping tile with clean ¾” gravel to improve drainage efficiency and direct water to designated discharge area.
Backfilling and Restoration
-
Backfilled the trench in layers using native soil to reduce settling.

Site was cleaned and all excess materials and soil removed from property.
Conclusion
Exterior waterproofing was successfully completed at 36 Greenhill Dr, Thorold, ON. The initial scope of 10 LF was expanded after excavation revealed additional areas requiring waterproofing and drainage system improvement. The new BlueSkin WP200 and Delta MS installation, along with updated weeping tile and gravel system, provides effective long-term protection against water infiltration and foundation deterioration.
