The client contacted The City Wide Group after noticing a water leak in the basement at the residential property located at 104 Rykert Crescent, Toronto. The concern involved active water infiltration along a section of the foundation wall. Following an on-site inspection, interior basement waterproofing was recommended to address the water entry and prevent future moisture-related issues.

 The proposed scope of work includes approximately 16.5 linear feet (LF) of interior basement waterproofing, along with the supply and installation of a Liberty sump pump system to improve interior drainage and overall water management.

 Scope of Work

    • Approximately 16.5 LF of interior basement waterproofing along the affected portion of the foundation wall.
    • Supply and install a Liberty sump pump system to efficiently manage groundwater and reduce hydrostatic pressure.
    • Installation of interior drainage components to collect and redirect water to the sump system.
    • Restoration of interior slab and cleanup upon completion of work.

Solution and Implementation Process

  1. Site Preparation
    • Interior work area identified, marked, and protected to minimize disruption to the homeowner’s living space.
    • Basement contents near the work zone cleared or protected as required.
  1. Interior Trenching
    • Concrete slab trenched along approximately 16.5 LF of the interior foundation wall to allow access to the footing.
    • Trenching was performed with care around structural components and existing utilities.
  1. Foundation Preparation
    • Exposed foundation wall cleaned to remove dirt, debris, and loose material.
    • Surface prepared to ensure proper installation of the waterproofing system.
  1. Waterproofing System Installation
    • Installation of an interior waterproofing membrane to direct moisture into the drainage system and relieve hydrostatic pressure along the foundation wall.
  1. Drainage & Sump Pump Installation
    • New 4” perforated weeping tile installed at footing level and surrounded with clean ¾” gravel to promote proper drainage.
    • Liberty sump pump system supplied and installed within a designated sump basin.
    • Sump pump discharge line routed to an approved exterior discharge location in accordance with municipal requirements.
  1. Concrete Restoration and Clean-Up
    • Interior trench backfilled with gravel and concrete restored to match the existing slab.
    • All excess materials, concrete, and debris were removed from the site, leaving the basement clean and safe.
