Residential Basement Waterproofing Work

Location: Niar Ave, Mississauga, ON L5G 1W2

Sales Representative: Tony Novara

The client contacted The City Wide Group after noticing water and moisture intrusion in the basement along a foundation wall at the residential property located at  Niar Ave, Mississauga. The moisture was observed along a specific section of the interior foundation wall. Following an on-site inspection, interior basement waterproofing was recommended to control water infiltration and protect the foundation from ongoing moisture issues.

The proposed scope of work includes approximately 12 linear feet (LF) of interior waterproofing along the affected portion of the foundation.

Scope of Work

  • Approximately 12 LF of interior waterproofing along the affected foundation wall.
  • Excavate an interior trench approximately 8–12 inches in depth along the wall being waterproofed.
  • Remove and replace existing weeping tile with new perforated weeping tile, complete with filter screening, installed along the perimeter of the waterproofed area and connected to the existing drainage system.
  • Install weeping tile at footing level, surrounded by clean ¾” gravel to promote proper water flow and drainage.
  • Install Delta MS waterproofing membrane from grade level down to and overlapping the footing.
  • Clean up and remove all excess soils, concrete, and debris from the work area upon completion.

Challenges

  • Localized water and moisture intrusion along a limited section of the foundation wall.
  • Ensuring proper drainage connection to the existing system for effective long-term water management.

Solution and Implementation Process

  1. Site Preparation
    • Interior work area identified and protected to minimize disruption to the homeowner’s basement.
    • Basement contents near the work zone cleared or protected as required.
  1. Interior Trenching
    • Concrete slab trenched along approximately 12 LF of the interior foundation wall to a depth of 8–12 inches.
    • Existing weeping tile was removed where present.
  1. Foundation Preparation
    • Exposed foundation wall cleaned to remove loose material and debris in preparation for membrane installation.
  1. Waterproofing System Installation
    • Delta MS membrane installed from grade level down to over the footing to direct moisture into the drainage system and relieve hydrostatic pressure.
  1. Drainage Installation
    • New 4” perforated weeping tile installed at footing level with filter screening.
    • Clean ¾” gravel is placed around the weeping tile to ensure effective water flow and drainage connection.
  1. Concrete Restoration and Clean-Up
    • Trench backfilled with gravel and concrete restored to match the existing slab.
    • All excess soil, concrete, and debris were removed from the site, leaving the basement clean and safe.

Conclusion

Interior basement waterproofing was recommended and planned for approximately 12 LF of foundation at Niar Ave, Mississauga, to address active moisture intrusion. The installation of new weeping tile, clean gravel drainage, and a Delta MS waterproofing membrane provides effective moisture control and long-term protection against water infiltration.

These improvements will help maintain a dry basement environment and preserve the structural integrity of the foundation.
